Come ride for Donnie Jarrell with all his friends on a recreational bicycle ride. This event is a fund raising ride to help Donnie, Tonya, and Logan Jarrell in their fight with Lou Gehrig's disease.

An active triathlete and an Ironman® competitor, Donnie Jarrell was diagnosed March, 2003 with the most aggressive form of LOU GEHRIG'S DISEASE, which attacks the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord. The prognosis is a rapid loss of physical function within a few months, with a life expectancy of less than two years. Donnie has already beaten the odds, but this continues to be the fight of his life, and you can help!

The Ride
The tour will be a 40-mile ride through the beautiful rolling hills of upper St. Tammany Parish. Bike mechanics provided by the Spokesman Professional Bicycle Works in Mandeville will be available at the beginning of the tour, and there will be a rest stop mid-way through the tour. Afterwards, there will be a party at St. Benedict’s with music, food and drink, and great company. If you don’t want to ride and still want to be involved, we would love to have your help as a volunteer during the ride! Tour Rolls at 8:30AM - 40 miles – Leave St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and make a loop through upper St. Tammany Parish, returning to St. Benedict’s. Traffic control will be provided, but the roads will be open to vehicle traffic.

From the intersection of Interstate Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 190 in Covington, LA, St. Benedict’s Catholic Church is 8 miles to the north-northeast, following the directions below:

1. From Interstate Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 190 in Covington, go north on U.S. Hwy 190 through Covington for 3.0 miles to where U.S. Hwy 190 and Business 190 split, just before the overpass over the Bogue Falaya River. Stay in the left lane at the traffic signal at the split.
2. Stay on U.S. Hwy 190 / LA Highway 25 and continue north, over the Bogue Falaya River overpass, for 1.0 mile on U.S. Hwy 190 / LA Highway 25 to its intersection with LA Highway 437 / Lee Road.
3. Turn right (northeast) on LA Highway 437 / Lee Road.
4. Continue northeast and north on LA Highway 437 / Lee Road for 2.5 miles (bearing right when River Road goes off to the left) to where LA Highway 1081 / Stafford Road veers off to the right (northeast).
5. Bear right (northeast) on LA Highway 1081 / Stafford Road.
6. Continue northeast on LA Highway 1081 / Stafford Road for 1.3 miles to its intersection with Smith Road on the right.
7. Turn right (east) on Smith Road and go 0.1 mile to the entrance to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, which will be on the right (south) side of Smith Road.
