Well, we went and saw Disney World. It was a blast and somewhat
tiring for everyone... not just me. Seeing Logan's eyes light up when she saw
all the characters was worth...well, PRICELESS.
Tonya and I are hanging
in as much as can be expected with this new Hurdle(ALS). I am taking a ton of
antioxidants and the prescribed drug, Rilutek. When we went to the Specialist
in New Orleans(LSU), she ok'ed me taking the Rilutek in one dose instead of
twice. That was good. She also said I could continue working out, GREAT.
I find not falling and speaking clearly to be my most challenging
things right now. Smart training is something I believe I have been practicing
and preaching for the most part (meaning very little anaerobic "red zone"
exercise). Well, now I am going into the "red zone" no more...until I get
better. This ALS is a tricky thing. Daily, I ask myself what would I tell me,
if I were training me...the answer, "You are where you are, let's work to get
better." |
I'm taking my sick days from school to finish the year(June 1,
2003) and continuing to teach 3 cycling classes a week. Competing/participating
in a few Triathlons/Duathlons/Bike Tours as much as my body and Family can
handle. I am looking forward to a swallow study next week, a Respiratory
therapists appointment soon, trying to eliminate wheat and casein from my diet,
getting environmental tests done in and around our home, setting up a
urinalysis for an assortment of things and looking into glutathione injections.
I am also getting massage weekly and healing touch. Whew! Yoga works (to help
relieve stress) too.

I will post again in about two
