Well today was the Du the Donnie Du. It was, to say the least, spectacular. With a record number of registrants for a duathlon of this type, the crew of volunteers, guided by Premier Event Management and Team Earthquake, were in situation where, as one of the officials said, "this is a good problem." "Too many people, we need to set up more bike racks quick." We were wonderfully overwhelmed by about 500 eager multisport athletes. Some first timers and many veterns of this wonderful lifestyle.

Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and we were without incident on the course. Yea! Everyone stayed upright.

As for me and my status, I am feeling pretty good. I got to ride the 10 mile bike section and truly enjoyed being out there. Shannon Allison ran for me in the infamous "Blue Runner Beans" costume. (Very hot) The toughest part of the day for me was putting my bike on the roof rack. I did it but it was tough.

I am continuing to take my medicine and plenty of anti-oxidants. Diet is pretty good but eliminating dairy(cheese) is a toughie. Plenty of soy products and creatine regularly.

Tonya is in summer school so some friends are helping watch Logan a couple of days. She is taking Gymnastics on Mondays, so that's our big outing that day, her and I. I am still teaching Studio cycling on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 5am, 5am and 5:30am respectively. Massage therapy seems to be helping with the soreness in my shoulders and naps are almost necessary. Tonya would say, "definitely necessary."

Some friends are also cooking for us a couple of nights a week. This is a huge help.

Until it happens we do not realize how important things really are, whatever it is. The businesses and community support has been unbelievable. My family and I thank everyone for their prayers and kind gifts of love.

I am determined to get better. Those of you who know me, already believe me. Those of you that I have not met ...yet,... you will see and believe that GOD has a plan for us all. I believe this is part of the plan.

I joked early on, and still do, about how tough it's gonna be tryin to pay everyone back. You all are so wonderful.

Donnie
